Grooveking Technology Lookout: The Optimus Keyboard

The Grooveking team, as you probably known, is comprised of a group of designers with backgrounds from architecture to fine art to product design. Once in a while we like to let you in on some of the technology that gets us inspired to create - hence the Grooveking Technology Lookout.

Graphic designers to hardcore gamers and even the unsuspecting computer user will be thrilled by this recent innovation. Soon to be released (Feb 1, 2006), the Optimus keyboard will allow users to fully customize their keyboard. Using an open source format and OS-independent, the Optimus keyboard is built with organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). These OLEDs (brighter and more colorful than normal LEDs) will project letters, numbers, and even graphics and animations onto the keys instead of the standard printed keys. Gamers easily view their controls, designers can easily locate the copy and paste shortcut keys, and multi-lingual folks will be able to switch over their keyboard without having to actually switch their keyboard. This Optimus keyboard by Lebedev Studio will cost a little more (in the $200 range), but I don't think that should hinder the hard core computer user in us all. link
